The presentation introduces the sensor technology, shows first application examples both on the engine test bench and for real on road drives.

Benefits of permanent measurement of the rotor or magnet temperature in test bench, test driving and real driving operation will be discussed:
To ensure the protection of the magnets in the rotor and to avoid thermal damage
To maximise power utilisation and minimise (thermal) reserves (avoid derating, reduce the share of rare earth)
To further improve the accuracy of the torque and thus to increase the efficiency in the driving cycle
To enable torque monitoring with sufficient accuracy to guarantee functional safety
