Dr. Carmen Ostwald

Head of Business Development bluemint® Steel, Center of Decarbonisation ThyssenKrupp

Dr. Carmen Ostwald studied chemistry at Bochum, Brighton and the Fritz-Haber-Institute in Berlin from 1992-1997. In 2001, she gained her PhD in physical chemistry at Max-Planck-Institute for iron research in Düsseldorf. Additionally, she completed a MBA Business Administration at the ESMT in Berlin from 2007-2009.

From 2001-2007 she worked as team leader interfacial chemistry and electrochemistry at DOC Dortmunder OberflächenCentrum.  

She began working for thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG in 2007 as senior expert strategy projects and took over as manager strategy projects in 2009. From 2012 until today, she was holding various positions within thyssenkrupp Steel including team leader energy management and optimization as well as head of casting-rolling plant in Bruckhausen. Since 2020 Dr. Carmen Ostwald is working as head of strategies, markets and business model and business development of thyssenkrupp Steel Europe’s CO2-reduced bluemint® steel products.
