Holistic Approach of Process and Resin Influence on Electric Lifetime Expectation of an E-drive Motor

To learn and master the interaction between resin chemistry and process-knowledge and how both are affecting the life expectation of an e-drive motor in the automotive environment
A charge of 21 hairpin stators have been trickle-impregnated with different next generation resin types. To cover the end-winding and to prove a certain level of heat dissipation the technology of end-winding potting in an air bubble free encapsulation process was used
Stators are tested with electrical and thermal test methods to distinguish the influence on the lifetime and deep understanding which chemistry with which process parameters can provide longer life expectations of next generation electric e-Drive machines especially with the outlook into 800V platforms
