One Logic For E-Motor Production from Drive Control and PLC to Vision and Measurement Technology

• Traction motors for electric vehicles are currently being built using hairpin technology.  
  • Examples include the VW ID.3 and ID.4, the Porsche Taycan, and the Audi e-tron. Unlike conventional winding technology, production with hairpin technology is essentially an assembly process and requires fast cycle times from the control technology.
• With PC-based control from Beckhoff, these fast cycle times can be achieved in plants with different machine modules that carry out the individual production steps. It is essential to have a continuous data set from the sensor to the cloud complete with timestamps. The integration of all control functions, such as the PLC, motion control, vision, and measurement technology, into a single platform is fundamental for optimum synchronization.
