The Global Coil Winding And Electrical Manufacturing Event
João Fong is a Mechanical Engineer specializing in Energy Efficient Technologies. Since 2006, he has been a dedicated researcher at ISR-UC, engaging in pivotal research and technology transfer initiatives within Ecodesign, HVAC systems, lighting solutions, energy efficiency advancements, and energy policy development. João has played an instrumental role in numerous European studies, contributing significantly to the Ecodesign EuP preparatory studies on motors (Lot 11 and Lot 30), the E4 Project, and the Ecodesign preparatory study.
He currently leads as the coordinator of the EU-MORE project, further cementing his expertise and commitment to sustainable engineering solutions.
The current Ecodesign regulation for electric motors (EU 2019/1781) will be reviewed in 2024. Energy performance and circular economy angles will be analysed. University of Coimbra and the European Copper Institute have carried out an exploratory study covering possible design strategies and technology choices, as well as their impact in terms of material use and life cycle assessment.
